The Forsaken Merman

I really enjoyed this poem. I totally agree with the message about religion constraining the imagination. It is also interesting if you look form the perpesctive of the cult factor of religion, or how a belief can become so strong that it can consume an indiviual, or shadow the rest of their being . This comes to me when reading about how the mermaid can no longer hear the call of her childeren. I mean thats pretty powerful, don't you think??
